Baseboards & More Dirt

The weekend of the 11th we found ourselves looking for things to accomplish while we waited for Menards to deliver a paycheck's worth of drywall, insulation and other building materials to start the next phase of our upstairs improvement project. In order to lay down the new flooring upstairs, we need to remove the baseboards. Alas, we found that the baseboards had likely been either removed or replaced and screwed into the plaster walls with 3" wood screws rather than finishing nails. Removing the baseboards involved me crawling around and digging at every small divot in the wood with a utility knife trying to figure out if a screw laid beneath the paint and caulk while Nick followed me with a pry bar, screwdriver and electric drill. Needless to say, this was a dirty, annoying process which was captured with the following photos:
